Modern wireless Internet services have greatly helped people enhance the way they do their work. Their role has become so crucial that businesses may become paralyzed when they cease to become available.
There are three general types of wireless Internet services. These are cellular Internet, hotspot wireless Internet, and satellite Internet.
Cellular Internet is made possible by a cellular architecture that is made up of a backbone network. A group of cell phones located in a certain area can communicate using a common base station called a cell. Cells are made to overlap each other to ensure continuity of communication. Mobile units of different cellular Internet providers are able to connect with each other using the base stations and the backbone network of each provider.
To further facilitate communication among cell phones using different providers, a standard system has been developed. This is called Global System for Mobile Telecommunications, which has made roaming possible.
Hotspot wireless Internet, on the other hand, is useful for enabling Internet access in certain areas that are called hotspots. Examples of these areas are airports, coffee shops, and hotels. Internet access in these hotspots may come with a fee, but some offer it for free to further attract visitors in their respective areas.
Wireless local area network standards are used by hotspot wireless Internet. An example of such a standard is IEEE 802.11b, which allows connections at speeds of more than 10 megabits per second.
Meanwhile, satellite Internet from anywhere is being used for rescue services and other industries such as mining, transportation, and traveling. This provides better quality than traditional radio systems. To enable such service, a user needs to have an antenna that is aimed at the correct satellite and a modem that will be used to connect to the computer. The architecture of satellite Internet consists of an elliptical satellite dish, modems, and coaxial cables between the dish and the modems. The satellite dish needs to be mounted to a high place to ensure faster transmission of data.
Wireless Internet has indeed been crucial in helping businesses grow and governments improve. Because of its practical uses, it has also become a tool for personal use. One can only expect further improvements to be introduced to wireless Internet because, as time passes by, the demand for it will continue to rise.

February 7th, 2010Fax by Internet – How to Choose the Best Fax by Internet Service For Your Needs
November 26th, 2009
More and more individuals and companies are using services that allow them to fax by internet. At the same time there are more and more such service providers online and it is becoming somewhat difficult to figure out which one to chose.
Below are considerations to take into account when selecting a ‘fax by internet’ service:
Your Geographic Location
Some fax by internet providers offer services in the US only. Others offer their services in a limited number of countries. Make sure the provider you choose can give you a number in the location you need.
Reliability and Quality
How reliable is the service provider? Ask others and find out if they are happy with the service. Look in online forums as well. Check if the provider has an uptime guarantee. This is very important as you don’t want the service to be down when you are receiving a fax by internet. Likewise, you want to make sure the faxes you are sending and receiving are of high quality so that nobody has any problems reading them.
Price
What is the monthly price? How many pages are you allowed to send and receive for that price? How much will each page cost if you exceed this number? Note that the monthly price will probably not include unlimited faxing.
Plans available
Look at the different plans and figure out what your needs are. Do you need only to receive faxes or also to send them out? How many faxes do you expect to send per month? Based on these questions you can select a package that is right for you.
Trial period
Most companies will allow you to fax by internet for free for a trial period. Make sure you get such a plan so that you can easily switch to another provider if you are not satisfied.
How the faxes are viewed
Would you like to view them on your browser, or would you like to receive them in your mailbox? Maybe you’d like both options.
Types of numbers available
What type of number do you need? A regular local number? Do you need a toll-free number? Make sure you can get the service you need.
Availability of Voice Service
Do you also need a voice service? Do you want people to be able to talk to you at this number? Do you need voicemail? If so, make sure you get a provider that offers this in additional to their fax service.
With a bit of research you can easily figure out which provider will allow you the best experience when you fax by internet. Once you start using such a service you will realize how great this kind of service is. Just imagine – no more technical issues with fax machines not working properly, no more running out of paper, and no more busy signals. I’m sure you’ll be so happy you will never look back!
